Privacy Policy

1. How CapyPlayer handles data

CapyPlayer plays media from your device and the servers you connect. A CapyPlayer account is optional. If you sign in with email, Google or Apple, we process the email address, profile name and account identifiers provided by that method to authenticate you and manage your account and purchases.

2. Account, usage and diagnostic data

Account services process account and device identifiers, device model, operating system and app version, and purchase receipts, transaction records and entitlement status. On iOS and Android, Firebase Analytics collects app-instance identifiers, general location derived from IP address, and usage events such as screen visits, server connection results, playback attempts, playback position and duration, and purchase-flow interactions. Firebase Crashlytics collects crash reports, error logs, installation identifiers and device/app information to diagnose failures. These services can operate without a CapyPlayer account. Playback analytics are usage measurements, not an upload of your media files.

3. Local data and connections you choose

Server configurations, credentials, playback settings and caches are stored on your device and used to provide the features you select. Connections to media servers transmit the information needed for authentication, browsing and playback to those servers. Their operators may retain access and playback records. CapyPlayer does not upload your media files to its own account service as part of normal playback. Optional WebDAV backup and Trakt synchronization send the selected settings or viewing activity to the service you connect; this data is therefore not exclusively local.

4. Third-party services

Google and Apple provide optional sign-in, app stores process purchases, and Google Firebase provides Analytics and Crashlytics. Metadata, artwork and linked features may contact services such as TMDB, Trakt and your chosen media or WebDAV server. Each service receives the information needed for that feature and processes it under its own privacy terms. Service providers may process data outside your country. See Google's privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy and Firebase information at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

5. Purposes and security

We use account, device and purchase data for authentication, entitlement management, device management, service security and support. Usage and diagnostic data help us understand feature use, investigate failures and improve reliability. The iOS Analytics integration excludes advertising-ID support; these disclosures concern app functionality and analytics, not targeted advertising. Our account APIs use HTTPS. The security of a media or backup connection also depends on the address and provider you choose; an HTTP server connection is not encrypted by HTTPS.

6. Retention, choices and deletion

We retain account, device and purchase records as needed to provide the service and meet applicable legal or security requirements. Analytics and diagnostic retention follows the Firebase project's settings and the provider's retention rules. You can remove server connections, clear local data and disconnect optional integrations. To delete a CapyPlayer account, open Settings, tap your avatar, choose Account & Security, then Delete Account. Uninstalling the app does not delete the server-side account, third-party records or all Keychain entries. Account deletion does not cancel an App Store subscription; manage cancellation with the store. Contact us to request access, correction or deletion, including questions about analytics or diagnostic data. Some records may need to be retained where legally required.

7. Policy updates

We update this policy when our data practices change and revise the date below. The public policy is also available at https://capyplayer.feifeiduck.com/en/privacy.

8. Contact

For privacy questions or data requests, email steven.zhu.email@gmail.com. Please describe your request without sending passwords, verification codes or media-server credentials.
